PhilNITS Davao Branch Office Opened

The Philippine National IT Standards Foundation (PhilNITS) formally opened its IT Biz Center in Davao City in a ceremony held at the Mandaya Hotel, Davao City last September 18, 2007.

PhilNITS, a non-stock, non-profit, and non-government organization, is implementing a Certification Program from the Japan Information Technology Engineers Examination Center (JITEC) of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. This program aims to measure the skills of IT professionals who intend to work in any Japanese and other firms both here and abroad.

The PhilNITS IT Biz Center is established to help enhance the human resource and IT resource development in Davao and Mindanao. Also, it will promote PhilNITS certification program in Mindanao area, help upgrade the quality of education in Mindanao region by adopting internationally recognized IT standards for IT professionals, and help generate employment for PhilNITS certified professionals in Japanese companies in the Philippines and abroad.

According to DTI 11 Asst. Sec. Merly Cruz, the facilities will also serve as the IT-enabling facility for Mindanao micro, small and medium enterprises (mSMEs) to improve their competitiveness in the global market particularly those in OTOP (One Town One Product) and industry cluster program.

The PhilNITS center is located at the 5th Floor of the Department of Trade and Industry XI, Mintrade Building, Monteverde St, Davao City.
