The 2-day conference, which was organized in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education XI and Ateneo de Davao University, has 16 presentations and was sponsored by Microsoft Philippines, 3M, Globe Company, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, All Visual and Lights Systems, and the UP Information Technology and Training Center.
This year's conference was doubly successful in the sense that it was attended not only by the IT educators in Region 11 but also from other regions in Mindanao. The conference was attended by 2 participants from Region IX, 20 from Region X, 19 from Region XII, and 59 from the host region, Region 11. It is also noteworthy to mention that this is the first MCITE wherein most of the resource speakers are from Mindanao-based academic institutions and industries. These schools include Ateneo de Davao University, University of the Immaculate Conception with 2 speakers, University of Mindanao, and UP Mindanao of Davao City; Mindanao Polytechnic State College, Cagayan de Oro City; and Mindanao State University, General Santos City. The Mindanao-based industries/ organizations that also presented in the conference are the Davao Light and Power Company, Mynd Consulting, Skycable-Suncable, and DabaweGNU, Inc.
