2007 Mindanao IT Olympiad

The Mindanao Wide IT Olympiad 2007, an offshot of the Region 11 IT Olympiad, will be held this coming December 5 and 6, 2007 at the Ateneo de Davao University. The olympiad, which started as the Region 11 IT Olympiad, is one of the major projects of the Council of Deans in IT Education XI. It consists of two parts - the IT Quiz and Computer Programming Competition.

With the support of the Region 11 Commission and Higher Education (CHED XI) and the Philippine Society of IT Educators XI (PSITE XI), the council has already conducted three IT Olympiads - the first was in February 2004 at the University of Mindanao, then at the NCCC Mall, Matina, Davao City in December 2004 and the third was held at the Ateneo de Davao University in December 2005.

The schools that won the previous programming competitions were the following:

1. SY 2003-04: UP Min(Champion), AdDU (2nd) and USEP (3rd)
   
2. SY 2004-05: AdDU (Champion), UP Min (2nd), and USEP (3rd)
   
3. SY 2005-06: UP Min (Champion), AdDU (2nd) and UIC (3rd)

With the success of the previous olympiads, the CDITE XI is now very much ready to conduct the affair in a wider scale – the Mindanao-wide IT Olympiad.
