Results of the 1st Philippine National Programming Competition

Congratulations to the winners of the 1st Philippine National Programming Competition held last October 20, 2007 at the at De La Salle Canlubang, Laguna, Philippines. The event was organized by the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP) in cooperation with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

The competition was participated by 50 teams from 24 colleges and universities in the country. Twenty one (21) of the participating schools (46 teams) were from the different regions in Luzon while the other three schools (4 teams) are from Mindanao - the Ateneo de Davao University, University of Immaculate Conception in Davao City and the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology in Iligan City.

Four (4) of the top ten teams were from Ateneo de Manila University, 3 from UP Diliman, 2 from De La Salle University and 1 from UP Los Baños.

The top ten teams are as follows:

Champion (1st Place) - UP Diliman. (Team UP Morons: Marte Raphael Soliza, Ralph Rainier Pineda, and Reginald Eli Deinla, Coach - Mr. Eric R. Tambasacan and Associate Coach - Dr. Pablo Manalastas).

2nd Place - Ateneo de Manila University. (Team cxxC: James Choa, Wilhansen Li, John Patrick Manalo, Coach - Dr. Pablo Manalastas, Associate Coaches: Mr. Jal de Vera, Mr. Ramon Akie Mejiea, Mr. Eric Vidal Tan, Dr. John Paul Verga)

3rd Place - UP Los Baños. (Team Heaven: Jeremiah Pascual, Reinard Pugoy, Mark Harold Rivera, Coach - Mr. Rainier Alexis L. Rapera)

4th Place - Ateneo de Manila University. (Team Automata: Ivan John Clement, Jason Christian Gaguan, Maria Clarisse Ligunas)

5th Place - UP Diliman. (Team 43: Ralph Justin Arce, Vanessa Rose Castro, and James Wyson)

6th Place - De La Salle University - Manila. (Team DLSU-2: Brian Paul Samson, Christian Valeen Chiu, Jeric Bryle Dy)

7th Place - Ateneo de Manila University. (Team Excessive Output: Jejomar Alexis Dimayuga, Thomas Dy, Danna Songco Aduna)

8th Place - De La Salle University - Manila. (Team DLSU-1: Jhovee Gerard Yap, Fu Yuen So, Robert Joseph Carag and Coach - Mr. Danniel Alcantara)

9th Place - UP Diliman. (Team 45: John Kristofferson Sanchez, Wigi Vei Oliveros, Pio Ryan Lumongsod)

10th Place - Ateneo de Manila University. (Team eTeam: Richard Locsin, Liza Vila, Byron Wang).

Also, kudos to Dr. Raffy Saldana and his group for their active role and efforts in making the event a reality.
