Only 1 has passed the Oct. 2007 PhilNits Exam in Davao

The Good News 1: Again, Davao City has produced another passer in the PhilNits Exam and she is Ms. Lorraine Raissa Te Yu, a graduating student in the BS Computer Science program of UP Mindanao. She passed the PhilNits Fundamental IT Exam (FE), which was conducted here in Davao City last October 28, 2007. According to Mr. Ariel of the DTI 11, the department is also happy with this development because it's been sometime now that Davao has not produced a PhilNITS Exam passer. The Bad News: The 41 other examinees or 97.6% of those who took the examination failed to make it. Hmmm, what's wrong with the other 41? Is it because that they did not take the exam seriously? Or they did not have the time to review before the exam? Or were the exam questions really hard? Or is it because of the quality of our IT programs/ curricula? So many questions????? In other words, this is a WAKE-UP call for all of us - IT Educators, deans, school administrators, etc... Good News 2: Aside from Ms. Yu, UP Mindanao has two Computer Science graduates who have passed the PhilNITS Exam, they are Mr. Ruel Lastimado and Mr. Raymond Rizada. Like Ms. Yu, Mr. Lastimado passed October 28 exam but he took it in Manila. Among the three, Mr. Rizada was the first one to take and pass the exam in Cebu City last April 1, 2007. To all of you, Congratulations! We are proud of you.. The Philippine National IT Standards Foundation (PhilNITS) is a non-stock, non-profit, and non-government organization that implements a Certification Program to measure the skills of IT professionals who intend to work in any Japanese firms in the Philippines and broad.
